We are pleased to share that the visual theme of the SUNY Transfer Equivalency Platform (STEP) site has been updated to enhance the overall user experience across devices. Although the overall functionality of STEP remains unchanged, and all information remains, you will observe updates to logos, colors, spacing, navigation elements, and other visual components throughout the site. These visual changes were made with three primary goals in mind:
- Improved readability and mobile usability by optimizing layouts, typography, and visual elements for viewing on phones, tablets, as well as desktop devices.
- Enhanced accessibility support through better alignment with accessibility standards and assistive technologies, helping ensure that STEP remains accessible and compliant.
- Faster page load times by streamlining visual assets, reducing the reliance on scripts, and simplifying theme components. The changes result in faster page loading for a more responsive and efficient browsing experience (14% faster than the prior version).
Additionally, we have refined how the platform is presented by organizing the site around the overarching STEP (SUNY Transfer Equivalency Platform) identity. Rather than distinguishing between the platform and the individual tools it contains, we are emphasizing STEP as a single, integrated resource that brings together transfer equivalencies, course catalogs, SUNY Transfer Paths, and related functionality. This change simplifies how the platform is described, promoted, and supported while providing users with a clearer understanding of the breadth of resources available through STEP.
