Degree Works Data

The primary way the Transfer Navigator receives data is through the Degree Works API or through Degree Works database extracts. When campuses use Degree Works as their primary data source, they are not required to install any software, extract data, or manage the data in the Navigator.

Campuses will continue to be involved in the routine maintenance of data in their SIS and Degree Works and will have the ability to set and manage certain conditions to ensure that Degree Works data received and displayed is appropriate and accurate.

Transfer Equivalency Data

SUNY campuses that utilize an Ellucian SIS and Degree Works, automatically provide transfer course equivalencies to Degree Works through standard extracts. No additional configuration is required or needed. It is important to note, however, that this information is extracted and subsequently loaded to the Transfer Navigator on a schedule and is not real time. Please note the following:

  • Degree Works is updated nightly for most processes, but other resource-intensive processes such as catalog loading are performed on a weekly basis.

  • The SUNY Transfer and Articulation Office and the Transfer Navigator receive a new data extract of Degree Works transfer equivalency data weekly, on Sunday evenings. Updates to campus records will be present on Monday, each week.

  • The SUNY Transfer and Articulation Office does not have real time access to your campus SIS.

  • If your campus has made a series of updates, and would like to review/test immediately, please contact the Transfer and Articulation Office to request a manual update.
