Campus Configuration Page Elements

The configuration page includes a series of elements that can be set or adjusted by campus editors. The following guide provides you with information about each setting.

Setting

Description

Values/Options

Campus Icon

The campus icon is an official campus graphic provided by Enrollment Management. If your campus would like this icon changed, please contact the Transfer and Articulation Office

Campus Short Name

The campus short name used by SUNY and SUNY Institutional Research. The short name is used to promote consistent alphabetized lists.

Campus IPEDS

The campus IPEDS code is the federal designation for the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System. This number cannot be adjusted.

Internal / IR Code

This internal code is used by SUNY Institutional Research, and is used by the Transfer Navigator to match some table values.

Transfer In Enabled

This value is set to “Yes” when campus data is provided, and campuses can be viewed on the Transfer In / Transfer Back lookup.

Term Code Pattern

The term code pattern is provided so campus term codes can be converted to a common year code used by the Transfer Navigator.

Y=Year, T=Term/Month, X=Other (e.g. YYYTT)

Institution Codes Used

Campuses will identify if the institution codes or indicators they use in their SIS or transfer system. The Transfer Navigator uses IPEDS since it is the most universal code.

CEEB, FICE, IPEDS, OPEID, Other, Autoincrement

Catalog Numbering Change

This setting will identify any significant across-the-board numbering changes undertaken by a campus within the last 10 years. This is used to determine if campus codes must be converted, cross-walked or excluded from loading.

None, 100 Converted to 1000, 1000 Converted to 100, Other

Exclude Retired Numbers

This setting indicates if campuses with numbering changes elect to inactive/hide the former (re-numbered) course.

Not Applicable, Yes, No

Numbering Pattern

Indicates if your campus uses a 100, 1000 or other numbering schema on their catalog. This is used to help determine if courses are upper/lower level (where required) and is used to help troubleshoot/diagnose entries.

N=Number, X=Other (e.g. NNN)

Manually Excluded Courses

If campuses identify specific courses to be excluded from view, the group code and course will be listed here.

Excluded Lookup Subjects

Campus editors may provide comma separated subject or discipline codes that should be excluded from a student lookup. This is generally used when a campus has created a general code that is used as an equivalency (e.g. LAS = Liberal Arts Elective) but is not a course a student would pursue or enroll in.

Examples include LAS (Liberal Arts Elective), TRN (Transfer General Course), SAB (Study Abroad)

Excluded Results Subjects

Campus editors may provide comma separated subject or discipline codes that should be excluded from the lookup and from a result display. This is generally used when a campus has created a code that is used very broadly and does not provide any needed information to a viewer. An example would a waiver or a fictional course used to indicate that a student received a degree.

Examples include WAV (Waiver), ADE (associate degree Earned

Excluded Attributes

Campus editors may include attributes that should be excluded. If an attribute is listed here, the import process will deactivate the course when importing. Campuses may also set the XTEQ attribute in their SIS when using a Degree Works extract or other extract that provides attributes to exclude the course. XTEQ is included by default and is a reserved attribute.

Comma separated attribute codes. Examples include XTEQ, NCRD (No Credit), WAIV (Waiver)

Excluded Institution Codes

When all institutions are imported, campuses editors can elect to identify institutions that should not be included within the Transfer Navigator. This is generally used when a campus has created a holder institution for a non-course category of experiences. Examples include “military” and “advanced placement”.

Comma separated institution codes (CEEB, IPEDS, OPEID etc…)

Specialized Rules

Specialized Rules are established when a campus has a complex need to exclude or maodify results, that can be handled programmtically via SQL. An example may be “exclude all courses with a letter in the second character of the course number.” In general, anything that can be logically represented, can be used as a specialized rule.
