European History from 1500
This course is an introductory survey of European History from 1500. It explores the development of a unique modern culture in Western Europe between 1500 and 1850 and the impact of this culture upon the world in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. The course also discusses the Russian alternative to modern Western culture and how the two societies came into conflict during the Cold War in the late 20th Century. The course ends by describing the Cold War conflict and its legacy in the 21st Century.3 credits (3 lecture hours), spring semesterThis course satisfies the Liberal Arts and Sciences requirement and the SUNY General Education Requirement for Western Civilization and World History & Global Awareness.Students may not receive credit for both SOCS 104 and HIST 162.
