This course focuses on developing the foundational knowledge, skills, and strategies or teaching children Birth-5 years with special needs (disabilities, delays, and/or risks). Students will explore special education history, state and federal laws, and regulations relative to early intervention and the education of young children with disabilities and their families. Students will explore an inclusive approach to education that integrates typical children and children with special needs in early childhood care and education. Site visits are required for this course. Prerequisite: ECD 101 - Introduction to Early Childhood Development or Permission of Instructor. 3 cr. 3 Lec.
