In Active Review
The SUNY Office of Student Success and the SUNY Office of Academic Affairs invite you and your campus colleagues to review and provide feedback on two proposed transfer policies that are currently under development. As part of SUNY’s formal policy process, we are seeking broad input from campuses to ensure that any final policy is well-informed and reflective of campus needs and operational practice.
1.0 Grade Standards for the Acceptance and Application of Transfer Credit
This policy seeks to define grade standards under which undergraduate college-level transfer credit is accepted and applied toward degree requirements, ensuring consistent treatment across SUNY in alignment with Board of Trustees policy, the SUNY General Education Framework, and SUNY Seamless Transfer policies.

2.0 Minimum Test Score Policy Amendments to the SUNY Award of Academic Credit by Evaluation policy
This policy establishes uniform standards for awarding credit for Advanced Placement (AP) examinations and Higher Level (HL) International Baccalureate (IB) examinations across all State University of New York (SUNY) campuses. It ensures consistency, transparency, and equitable treatment of students who have successfully completed commonly pursued standardized examinations. This policy further ensures that AP and IB credit practices across SUNY uphold system-wide expectations for academic quality, equity, and clarity, while allowing campuses flexibility to maintain curricular standards.
