Topics include transcription; RNA processing; involvement of RNA in protein synthesis; DNA replication, mutation, and repair; gene cloning; DNA sequencing; PCR ampliflication; and applications of recombinant DNA technology (including gene therapy). Students write a short research grant proposal on a topic of their choice, incorporating molecular approaches learned in class.
