Mystery & Detective
Prerequisites: ENG 102 or ENG 103 or ENG 109.
The course offers a historical survey of mystery and detective fiction as well as of the various subcategories of the genre (e.g. the classic mystery, the noir mystery and contemporary realistic fiction). Short story, novel length and cinematic representatives of the genre may be included. Representative authors include: Poe, Doyle, Christie, Chandler, Grafton, Mosley, and Hillerman. Writing is an integral component of the course.
