Prerequisites: ENG 102 or ENG 103 or ENG 109.
Through the study of selected literary works, this course provides a background in gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender theory and examines 20th century classification of people into these categories of ?queer" or ?straight." Selections from classical Greece to present-day literature, with emphasis on their historical context, will present issues about the definition, experience, and acceptance of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. Writing is an integral component of the course.
