BIO 103 | Human Ecology

The course explores the dynamic balance within the ecosphere. The flow of energy and mineral resources is examined in natural and human systems, and human impacts on this natural balance and flow of resources are studied. Social causes and solutions to ecological insults are also investigated. The laboratory examines, either through experiments or field study, characteristics of different ecosystems, stresses and impacts on different ecosystems, and current human actions to solve or prevent ecological problems. Notes: (1) Course specifically designed for non-science majors. (2) Fulfills SUNY-GE Natural Sciences. (3 hrs. lecture, 3 hrs. laboratory) Prerequisite: MAT007 or equivalent.
