This course will provide the student with an introduction to the more scientific aspects of anthropology. Topics to be studied in physical anthropology and archeology will include the foundations of evolutionary theory, the fossil evidence for human evolution, the evolution of culture, field studies of the primates, techniques used in archeological investigation, the evolution of food production and the consequences of that process for both Old and New World prehistory, physical variation in modern human populations, and the ancient Near East and Mesoamerica Civilizations.
