This is a course in the study of human communication on the level of one-to-one, face-to-face interaction as well as small group communication. Among the topics studied are non-verbal communication, listening, the role of perception, feedback, confirming and disconfirming behavior and cross- cultural issues in communication. Through class discussion, activities, and reflective writing, this course seeks not only to inform the student of communication theory, but to make the student a more effective communicator. Students are also expected to complete a research project as part of their study.
