This course is a broad survey of prehistoric and early historic cultures as revealed by archaeological research and historical records. Students will investigate important techniques and methods in Archaeology including excavation techniques, analysis and interpretation of data, and datingthe archaeological past. Students will also explore our current understandings and unresolved issues in human prehistory, agricultural origins, the origin and decline of civilizations, and the history and cultural development of representative early civilizations in the Old and New World.(Occasionally offered)Meets SUNY General Education requirements for World History and Global Awareness (GLBL) and Social Sciences (SOCS)
