Intro to Contemp Education
This course will give students a broad and comprehensiveoverview of the foundation of education in the UnitedStates. Students will investigate the significanteducational issues from the various historical,philosophical, sociological, political, and economicperspectives. Specific attention will be focused on thecontemporary interrelationships that exist between theschools and the general society. Students will complete20 hours of field experience in a public or private schoolclassroom, grades 1-6, with a NYS certified teacher.(Usually offered Fall and Spring semesters.)Prerequisites: ENG 101, EDU 201, minimum overallG.P.A. of 2.5.
