Prerequisite: ENGL 101. Designed to help studentsunderstand the process of creating, shaping, andcommunicating technical information so that peoplecan use it safely, effectively, and efficiently. Studentswill learn that technical documents are addressed toparticular readers; technical documents help thosereaders solve problems, are part of an organizationalcontext, are often created collaboratively, using designto increase readability, and involve graphics. Studentswill practice writing technical documents that arehonest, clear, accurate, comprehensive, accessible,concise, professional in appearance, and correct. Suchdocuments may include memos, email, and letters;instructions; definitions and descriptions; proposalsand formal written reports; job application materialincluding cover letters and resumes. NOTE: This coursemay be used as an English or Liberal Arts elective butcannot be taken in lieu of required English courses.
