PHYS 146 | Evolution of the Earth

This course explores the development of the Earth and its seas, continents, and mountains. The Earth's history is studied in chronological order, beginning with the formation of the Solar System and concluding with the recent glaciation. Emphasis is on the interactions of paleontology and geology, and examples focus on the geological history of eastern New York. Laboratory study includes sediment analysis, fossil identification, interpretation and construction of geologic maps, and field trips to explore natural physical phenomena. A lab fee will be required.Offered Spring.
