Examines issues of education and the social, historical,philosophical, political, and cultural foundations whichinfluenced their development; also examines the socialpurposes of education through social and behavioralsciences; explores the impact of social differences oneducation; helps the student develop a personal philosophyof education; and examines the relationshipof schooling to democratic principles. Students mustcomplete 20 hours of observation in classrooms basedon their chosen area of interest: Childhood-1st through6th grade or Adolescence-7th through 12th grade. Studentsobserve 2 hours per week for the entire semester;students must provide their own transportation to offcampuslocations.
