Visual Communication
This is a survey course that examines the evolution of visual communication from the invention of the printing press to the development of the World Wide Web. Students will learn the many ways information is produced and consumed in a modern, media-rich society. Typographic, graphic, informational, cartoon, still, moving, television, and computer images are analyzed within a framework of personal, historical, technical, ethical, cultural and critical perspectives.Prerequisite: C or better in COMP 101 or COMM 105 and junior or senior standing, or permission of instructors3 credits (3 lecture hours), fall or spring semesterThis course satisfies the Liberal Arts and Sciences requirement and the SUNY General Education Requirement for Basic Communication.
