This course introduces the student to a hands-onstudy of basic theory and laboratory experiences forlathes, milling, drilling, grinding, bench work, and bulkmanufacturing operations. Study of cutting speeds andfeeds, surface finishes, as well as machine capabilitiesis included. An introduction to welding, materials, andwelding processes will be included. Hands on skillswith basic part layout, measurement, inspection, andtechnical drawing reading skills used by machinistswill be emphasized.
