Emphasizes the anatomical, cultural, physiological, and reproductive characteristics of bacteria and viruses and practical applications of microbiology including aspects of disease. Explores various techniques and procedures used in microbiology labs including, microscopy, staining, growth, and identification of microorganisms. Prerequisite: One year of college biology courses number 1200 or higher OR one semester of college biology courses numbered 1200 or higher and one semester of college chemistry OR BIOL 1210 with a C or better.
