This course is designed to give the student a broad outline of world history. The students will study civilizations from the earliest humans through the classical world and beyond to the age of cross-cultural interaction and trade in the early 1500s CE. The student will be exposed to the traditions and cultures of the world to aid in weaving the story of human civilization. Early civilizations covered in the course include Mesopotamia, Indus, Chinese, Persian, Greek, Roman, Mesoamerican, European, as well as Islamic. Artistic and intellectual achievements and technological breakthroughs will be discussed throughout the course.
