This course will introduce students to different world regions and nation-states in comparison with one another and with the United States. The course will include an analysis/comparison of selected government and political institutions, individual and collective actors and processes in the contemporary world, emphasizing the interaction of political structures and processes in a variety of political settings. Historical and geographical factors will be examined to determine their effects on the contemporary political, economic and social patterns that exist in different nation states and regions.
