Analytical Chemistry
This course covers fundamental principles of quantitative chemical analysis, including sampling and sample preparation, methods of chemical analysis, and the reporting and interpretation of results. There is a strong emphasis on the use of standards, methods of calibration, experimental design, data collection, statistical treatment of results, documentation, quality control and assurance, and good laboratory practices. Laboratory techniques include volumetric and gravimetric methods of analysis, potentiometry, spectrophotometry, and chromatography. This course is intended for science and chemical technology majors. Lecture/laboratory. Prerequisites: Two college-level chemistry courses. Lab fee. (Fall)
