3 credits

A gateway course that introduces biology from an evolutionary, ecological, and conservation perspective. Students will learn how diversity leads to evolutionary changes in populations and species and how contemporary issues affect biodiversity and species persistence, along with structure and function of ecosystems and biomes, and the processes which maintain stability such as competition, predation, and parasitism. This course provides a foundation for further study in Biology. Offered every semester.
