In this literature seminar, students will read texts from the three main periods of medieval English literature (Old English, Anglo-Norman, Middle English) and connect those texts to others produced in non-Western contexts during the same time period. Readings in literary history and criticism will be used to supplement discussion of the course texts. Students will deliver presentations to the class, engage in original research, and write multiple lengthy essays that draw upon scholarly sources and engage in literary analysis.
