A thought-provoking introduction to the field of sociology & sociological research. Students study the sociological framework of analysis by focusing on central concepts and major theoretical perspectives. Emphasis is placed on fundamental concepts such as culture, socialization, race & ethnicity, social class, and gender. Social inequalities as a result of institutional and societal structures are extensively examined. The founding principles of social justice are utilized to promote equal opportunities to wealth, participation, and social privileges.
