Introduction to Music

Teaches students how to listen to music and understand it by identifying the basic materials of music and relating them to other areas; e.g., poetry, painting, sculpture, and architecture. By way of reading, lectures, and listening to music, the course proceeds from basic concepts in music to an understanding of form, movement, and style. This course fulfills the SUNY General Education requirements for The Arts. (3 semester hours) Fall
