Indigenous Peoples/Nrt America

Students will study the cultural variations and developments of Native Americans primarily in North America with a focus on contemporary Indigenous Peoples. Students will demonstrate a general knowledge of culture areas in order to examine the historic and current effects of colonization. Students will also understand contemporary issues such as racism, language revitalization, land rights, and the exercise of Indigenous sovereignty. ANT 1520 is suggested but is not a prerequisite. Eligibility: ENG 1510 without supports or Corequisite: ENG 1510 with supports. J occasionally; C spring.
