This course provides an introduction to teaching as a career by exploring sociological, philosophical and historical aspects of education and the profession of teaching. Emphasis will be placed on the topics of the school environment, student diversity, teacher effectiveness, curriculum, and contemporary issues in education. Written and oral presentations, critical thinking, reflective reading, research and discussion are integral parts of this course.Prerequisites: Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or better and admission to the Teacher Education Transfer Program or permission of instructor.Co-requisite: EDU 2023 credits (3 lecture hours), fall or spring semester
