This course is for students who have not previously studied Spanish and who are not familiar with the language. Using a communicative approach with a variety of listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities, students will become familiar with basic structure and vocabulary of the Spanish language. Elements of Hispanic culture, customs and geography will be introduced. Note: this course is not designed for students who have taken 3 or more years of Spanish in high school, or for anyone who has passed the high school Regents Spanish exam. This course is not designed to meet the needs of heritage or native speakers of Spanish.3 credits (3 lecture hours), fall or spring semesterThis course satisfies the Liberal Arts and Sciences requirement and the SUNY General Education Requirement for Foreign Language and World Languages.
