A full semester course to certify students in American Red Cross Lifeguarding. Students need to be strong swimmers and must be able to do the breaststroke with whip kick, sidestroke with inverted scissors, and freestyle with rotary breathing. The students must be able to tread water using egg beater kick and surface dive and retrieve a 10 pound brick. Each class warm up consists of 500-yard swim (20 lengths). This course includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer and standard first aid. At the completion of this course, the student must pass the Red Cross written and practical test for swimming. American Red Cross Administration Fee is $5.00. 1.5 class hours, 1.5 laboratory hours. 2 Credits
