Introduces students to all basic and expressive possibilities of processes of oil on canvas painting. Emphasis is placed on developing sensitivity to form, color, composition, and applied drawing skills to enable painting. Subject matter: Still Life and nature (some landscape foliage). Instructional aids include: demonstrations, references to contemporary artists, and skill development through experimental studies. Individual interpretations of assigned painting problems are emphasized while students concentrate upon visual relationships of all elements of design: value, line, space, texture, form, and color.
