Prerequisite: ENGL 101. Survey course coverstraditional and contemporary children's literature.Fairy tales and other works emerging from oraltradition, picture books, poetry, juvenile novels, andnon-fiction and informational books are all considered,for both general literary qualities and what they offerto children. Course develops critical perceptiveness.NOTE: Required for Early Childhood students and forthose planning a career in elementary education. Mayalso be used as an English or Liberal Arts elective, butcannot be taken in lieu of required literature courses.
