Introduction to the national system of government andpolitics, this course describes, analyzes and explains thepolitical process in America as it relates to the nationalgovernment. Study includes the founding process,federalism, the legislative, executive and judicialbranches, the operation of parties and elections, therole of law and the courts in rights and liberties, and theprocess of creating both domestic and foreign policy.The course seeks to give students an understandingof the way behavior of the President, Congressionalmembers, Supreme Court justices and ordinary citizensinfluences formulation of governmental policies.
