Linear Algebra

3 credits

Prerequisite: MATH 106 or equivalent. (See MathFlowchart) Introduces linear algebra withemphasis on interpretation and the development ofcomputational techniques. Topics include systems ofequations; matrices are utilized for the interpretationof vector spaces, subspaces, independence bases, dimension, inner product, outerproduct, orthogonaland orthonormal sets. Also the transformation ofmatrices, matrix operations, inverses, conditions forinvertibility, determinants and their properties. Thecharacteristics equation and its eigenvalue are usedfor problem solving and the development of lineartransformations.
