We’re excited to kick off our Transfer Trailblazers Series, a monthly opportunity to showcase the innovative transfer-focused work happening across SUNY, learn from one another, and strengthen connections across our transfer community.

September Spotlight: SUNY New Paltz

Our first Transfer Trailblazer is Rendesia Scott, Senior Director for Transfer & Returning Students at SUNY New Paltz, who will present:

Advancing Transfer Student Success Through the High Touch Transfer Initiative
An Equity-Centered, Proactive Advising Framework

Rendesia will share SUNY New Paltz’s High Touch Transfer Initiative (HTTI), an institutional approach focused on early engagement, proactive advising, transparent credit evaluation, and stronger coordination across the transfer student experience.

Participants will hear about strategies developed through the initiative, including pre-transfer advising, faculty engagement, cross-divisional collaboration, and orientation redesign, along with lessons that may help inform transfer work on other SUNY campuses.

Transfer Trailblazers is about highlighting the great work already happening across SUNY and creating more opportunities for campuses to learn from one another.

If your campus has a program, initiative, policy, practice, or promising approach related to transfer that others could learn from, we’d love to feature it in an upcoming session.

Presenters do not need to be Transfer Liaisons. We welcome proposals from colleagues across your campus who are engaged in transfer-related work and encourage liaisons to help us identify and connect with colleagues doing work worth sharing.
