Introduction to Journalism

General introduction to journalistic principles and practices in gathering, writing, and reporting of print journalism. Defines what constitutes news and discusses news judgment, news gathering, news and feature writing, reporting, interviewing, news editing, legal and ethical problems of journalists. Emphasis on clear, concise writing. Fundamentals of grammar and mechanics are reinforced through regular editing exercises.
